Green Point Lighthouse
Erected in 1883 to serve the fishing communities around Port De Grave and Bay Roberts, the Green Point lighthouse (Then known as Bay Roberts Point) stands at over 6 metres tall and is cylindrical tower of cast iron construction typical of many lighthouses in Newfoundland at the turn of the century. The visual markings for the light consists of multiple red and white horizontal bands.
The tower was originally adjoined to a keepers dwelling, however after the light was converted to electricity from kerosene in 1931 it was demolished as a full time keeper was no longer needed. The light was designated a federal heritage building in 1990 and remains a popular tourist destination.
